How To Get The Perfect Summer Glow With Mark Rogers

Nov 14, 2023

Summer is for the golden tan and glowing skin, that’s of course if you are on holiday to get a break from the unpredictable Irish summer!

Fear not, we can still achieve a gorgeous look together with some fantastic products without heading to the airport. Summer is the time to embrace a bit of colour, to make the most of that glow. These months allow the extra illumination to look more natural because the sun naturally hits your face more during the summer (if we are lucky) and creates added colour, especially with a lovely blusher. To help you achieve a successful full-face summer glow look, here are some tips and tricks you should know:

Apply facial sun cream with a high SPF: it is key you incorporate this into your everyday routine as we don’t want to get a burnt summer look!. Even if the day has clouded over the UV light can still come through strongly. It is recommended you apply your sunscreen under your make up to ensure the product doesn’t weigh down your skin, feel sticky or gives you an extra shinny look.

Top tip: Even if you wash your face every night, a gentle cleanser in the mornings followed by a light moisturizer will help create a fresh canvas and wipe away any oils that may have built up over night.

Contouring: Thankfully, the contour game has had great progress over the last couple of years and no longer requires a long series of steps. The key is to highlight your natural facial features through soft and gentle brush movements. Always remember to approach the blending process with a light hand, with an upwards movement to sculpt your cheekbone.

Bronzer shade: when it comes to which shade of bronzer you should choose, it’s all about balance. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when picking bronzer colours is that you should select a shade that is only one to two shades darker than your natural skin tone. If you pick a bronzer that is lighter than your skin tone or more than two shades darker, your skin will likely end up looking either washed out or unnaturally orange. Check some of my favourite products below, these are in the order I have used them to achieve the Ultimate Summer glow in the Its4women Summer glow tutorial:
